About

In July 2016, Governor Gina Raimondo signed into law legislation (2016-H7488A, 2016-S2396A) requiring Holocaust and Genocide education in Rhode Island’s secondary schools, starting in the 2017-18 academic year. In August 2021, Governor Dan McKee signed legislation to create a permanent commission on Genocide and Holocaust education. The legislation (2021-H 5650A, 2021-S 0840A) formalizes a commission to implement the 2016 law introduced by Senator Goldin and Representative Kazarian to require public schools to teach students about Genocide and the Holocaust.
